“Our advisers work during the evening and we take a caring, personal approach to every family.”

Jane Alderson, north Birmingham hospitals co-ordinator

Free care home advice service

We hold information on thousands of care homes across the UK and monitor bed availability on a weekly basis.

Our advisers can help you to make an informed choice about a care home and assist with the paperwork, visiting homes and transport. This service is completely free.

How does our service work?

You will be allocated your own Carehome Selection adviser.

Our advisers are trained in every aspect of providing the information you need in order to choose a care home and usually come from a nursing, health or care background.

Your adviser may meet you at the location you choose.

You may wish to meet them in your own home, hospital or in our offices. Our advisers work flexibly and are available during the evenings and weekends to ensure that meetings take place at a convenient time.

Your adviser will check you receive all the funding and allowances you are entitled to

Our advisers give advice on funding, clarifying all the criteria used, making sure that our clients know what allowances they are entitled to claim for and how to do so. Many of those who are self-funding their own care are not aware of the allowances they are able to claim which can make a significant difference to overall costs.

The adviser will discuss your individual needs and carry out a search for suitable homes within your area.

Carehome Selection holds detailed portfolios on more than 5,000 care homes with information about the type of care they provide, photographs and the meals they serve. Carehome Selection checks bed availability on a weekly basis so we can give you accurate and up-to-date information, along with the support you need with all the arrangements for the care of your loved one.

The adviser will call the suitable homes for you and arrange visits.

The adviser may accompany you on visits and ensure that all your questions are answered. Once you have chosen a care home, the adviser may assist you with all the necessary paperwork and arrangements.

We do not recommend individual care homes.

We provide you with all the information you need in order to make comparisons between different care homes and make an informed choice about the best home for you or your relative.

Our independence is based on the way we are funded.

Homes do not pay to register with us, but pay a percentage of the first year’s fees for any client who is placed with them. This percentage is exactly the same for all care homes to ensure all are treated equally.
