Carehome Selection was founded in 1995 by Dr Richard Newland. Through his work as a GP, Dr Newland understood how difficult and stressful it is for patients and their families to choose a care home.

Richard’s vision was to create a single source of good, trusted information which is open to all and would allow for an informed choice of home.

The service developed by Carehome Selection is based on providing support tailored to the individual needs of each client and their family.

The service is completely free and confidential. Client surveys show 95 per cent of people who have used Carehome Selection rate it as “excellent” or “very good.”

We provide services for 50 hospitals across the UK, reducing the number of delayed discharges and helping clients and their families to find appropriate care.

Our placement scheme for Worcestershire Royal Hospital was Highly Commended in the Prestigious Health Service Journal Awards.

Carehome Selection has a nationwide team of 55 advisers, managed by five hospital co-ordinators. The team receives between 180 and 200 referrals to hospital clients every week.
